Study on Prehistoric Ornaments of ITaly

SPOT is a project focused on the study of Neolithic and Copper age personal ornaments from Italy.

This research project aims to extend our knowledge of the ornamental custom of the ancient farmers’ communities, trying to highlining possible chronological and geographical differences, that may reflect diversities in the cultural and symbolic systems of the human groups.

A multi-analytical approach to the study of these non-utilitarian items, whose production requires time, labour, and particular skills, can be useful to understand the importance of craft production in the communities and reconstruct the existence of social and economic relations involved.
