First PaleolITica Workshop

On 24 February 2025, the first PaleolITica workshop was held at the University of Pisa, an informal meeting dedicated to young researchers specialising in lithic technology in the Italian Palaeolithic. The event provided a valuable opportunity for discussion on various aspects of lithic technology, adopting an approach centred on the direct observation of lithic artefacts.

In addition to stimulating debate on concrete issues within the discipline, the workshop facilitated an exchange of updates on ongoing research, enabling participants to identify points of convergence and explore new perspectives. Young researchers from various Italian universities took part in the meeting, including Jacopo Conforti (University of Bari Aldo Moro), Sara Daffara, Davide Delpiano, and Nicolò Fasser (University of Ferrara), Matteo del Rio (University of Genoa), Jacopo Gennai and Simone Sani (University of Pisa), Serena Lombardo (University of Tübingen), Giulia Marciani (University of Bologna), Brunella Muttillo, Matteo Rossini, and Sem Scaramucci (University of Siena).

The event was further enriched by the friendly participation of Professor Elisabetta Starnini, current professor of prehistoric archaeology, and Professor Carlo Tozzi, the dean of prehistoric archaeology in Pisa, whose contributions greatly enhanced the discussions.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their scientific contributions and for fostering a lively and constructive atmosphere. The enthusiasm and quality of the discussions bode well for future editions!
